OBSERVING YOUR CATERPILLARS (LARVAE STAGE) Your caterpillars will continue to grow for about 10-14 days Dont be alarmed if you dont see a lot of movement in your caterpillars while they are small, this is normal Their food source is the artificial diet at the bottom of the cup DO NOT REMOVE LID!!! DO NOT FEED THEM WATER OR ANY OTHER FOOD!!! You will start to notice little balls or frass (waste) at bottom of cup. No need to remove it. As your caterpillars grow, they will grow out of their old skin or molt Do not disturb them during this time! YOUR CATERPILLAR BECOMES A CHRYSALIS (PUPAE STAGE) When your caterpillar is fully grown, it will enter the pupae stage It will crawl to the top of the cup and hang upside down in a J - It is important that you keep them very still during this stage! In about 2 days they will curl up and harden, and form their chrysalis They will hang as a chrysalis for about 10-14 days MOVING THE CHRYSALIS FROM THE CONTAINER Once all chrysalis have formed and have hardened, you will move the netting/filter at top of cup to another container or habitat Simply open the lid and transfer the netting/filter to another container or habitat carefully! Secure with straight pins or tape Anything will work as a habitat as long as it is thoroughly clean and dry, and allows the butterfly to spread its wings Dont forget air holes! If a chrysalis should fall to the bottom of the container/habitat, dont be alarmed, it can still be saved - Simply lay it at the bottom of the container/habitat on a paper towel to emerge WHEN YOUR BUTTERFLIES EMERGE You may see some red stain at the bottom of the container/habitat Dont be alarmed! This is just meconium from their wings and will not stain permanently It is not blood! To feed your butterflies, simply saturate a cotton ball with Gatorade This will serve as their food source They also love fruit such as an orange chunk or watermelon chunk When you are ready to release your butterflies, take them outdoors at any time during the day, but no later than one hour before sundown and release them Try not to release them in the rain or if the temperature is below 60 degrees outside Simply open your container/habitat, make a wish, and watch them fly away www.chasenbutterflies.com 2015 '() S T U m p $ * 4 S = @ & q x z )*øӭӢâââuhLXhLXCJaJh+h:UCJaJh+hjKECJaJh+hC335CJaJh+hC33CJaJh+haTCJaJh+hLXCJaJhLXCJaJhOCJaJh+hOCJaJh+hO5CJaJh+hV5CJaJhLX5CJaJ*()Z T U , $^a$gdjKE & FgdaTgdO$a$gdO % & *z{J345O$a$gd3\`?/[G\!-Rk.sԻ..a濭?PK!֧6 _rels/.relsj0 }Q%v/C/}(h"O = C?hv=Ʌ%[xp{۵_Pѣ<1H0ORBdJE4b$q_6LR7`0̞O,En7Lib/SeеPK!kytheme/theme/themeManager.xml M @}w7c(EbˮCAǠҟ7՛K Y, e.|,H,lxɴIsQ}#Ր ֵ+!,^$j=GW)E+& 8PK!Ptheme/theme/theme1.xmlYOo6w toc'vuر-MniP@I}úama[إ4:lЯGRX^6؊>$ !)O^rC$y@/yH*񄴽)޵߻UDb`}"qۋJחX^)I`nEp)liV[]1M<OP6r=zgbIguSebORD۫qu gZo~ٺlAplxpT0+[}`jzAV2Fi@qv֬5\|ʜ̭NleXdsjcs7f W+Ն7`g ȘJj|h(KD- dXiJ؇(x$( :;˹!
